Week 46 Review: Icons

From Goodreads:
Your heart beats only with their permission.

Everything changed on The Day. The day the windows shattered. The day the power stopped. The day Dol's family dropped dead. The day Earth lost a war it didn't know it was fighting.

Since then, Dol has lived a simple life in the countryside -- safe from the shadow of the Icon and its terrifying power. Hiding from the one truth she can't avoid.

She's different. She survived. Why?

When Dol and her best friend, Ro, are captured and taken to the Embassy, off the coast of the sprawling metropolis once known as the City of Angels, they find only more questions. While Ro and fellow hostage Tima rage against their captors, Dol finds herself drawn to Lucas, the Ambassador's privileged son. But the four teens are more alike than they might think, and the timing of their meeting isn't a coincidence. It's a conspiracy.

Within the Icon's reach, Dol, Ro, Tima, and Lucas discover that their uncontrollable emotions -- which they've always thought to be their greatest weaknesses -- may actually be their greatest strengths.

My Review:
I enjoyed this book a lot! It was confusing at first, but then it started to make sense! Though honestly, the synopsis gave me a different impression, then what the book was about, though that was mostly my head being my head!

I enjoyed the relationships in this book. Dol and Ro, they pretty much grew up together, and had a strong bond. Then there's Dol and Lucas, who yeah, are the almost obligatory romance for a YA book, that I enjoyed their relationship, though it wasn't particularity memorable.

I enjoyed the Icons, they were interesting, because mostly for aliens, we picture creatures from movies like E.T., or the Aliens franchise. But these, we didn't really see them, but their presence was felt, in the barrier thingie!

I enjoyed the twists and turns! They were true to their names, and just not what I expected, so that was just so great! I think they were really original, and I was just so glad that they could win a battle against the Icons, but there is at least one more book, so they're not done yet!

I enjoyed this book a lot, and I can't wait for more!
