Week 35 Review: The Final Gambit

From Goodreads:
Avery's fortune, life, and loves are on the line in the game that everyone will be talking about.

To inherit billions, all Avery Kylie Grambs has to do is survive a few more weeks living in Hawthorne House. The paparazzi are dogging her every step. Financial pressures are building. Danger is a fact of life. And the only thing getting Avery through it all is the Hawthorne brothers. Her life is intertwined with theirs. She knows their secrets, and they know her.

But as the clock ticks down to the moment when Avery will become the richest teenager on the planet, trouble arrives in the form of a visitor who needs her help—and whose presence in Hawthorne House could change everything. It soon becomes clear that there is one last puzzle to solve, and Avery and the Hawthorne brothers are drawn into a dangerous game against an unknown and powerful player.

Secrets upon secrets. Riddles upon riddles. In this game, there are hearts and lives at stake—and there is nothing more Hawthorne than winning.

My Review:
Oh wow, this was a fantastic read! I loved finally learning all that we can about the secrets in the past, of Tobias Hawthorne, Toby, and it was such a great read! It was such an adventure, and I loved watching everything play out!

This book jumps right to the near end of Avery's wait to inherit the money. So things have quieted down, but then Eve arrives, and brings a whole new set of problems. And not a Tobias Hawthorne puzzle-until one pops up. So that was really great to read!

When I first read The Hawthorne Legacy, I got an impression about the state of Avery's heart, that I didn't get the second time reading it. And I really wanted to know-which, if either, or the Hawthorne boys she was going to choose. Thankfully, we're given the answer in the first few chapters, which was great!

There were still even more hidden secrets, and this is the one that had the longest reach, because there's a reason why Toby didn't come back. I loved watching these characters navigate these new discoveries, twists and turns, and I couldn't put it down!

That ending, the climax, and the last chapter, were both so great! I loved how Avery used her mind to deal with the bad guy, and how everything turned out there. And that ending, oh, that was fantastic, though I do have a few questions, like what about the companies that Tobias had owned? And it sounds like she'd be selling the properties as well. I guess some of my confusion comes in-was the 46 billion dollars in bank accounts, or was that covering everything that he owned, as well?

Loved reading this book, and I can't wait for whatever Jennifer Lynn Barnes writes next!
