Prince North's home is in the sky, in a gleaming city held aloft by intricate engines powered by technology. Nimh is the living goddess of her people on the surface, responsible for providing answers, direction—hope.
Linked by a terrifying prophecy and caught between duty and fate, they must choose between saving their people or succumbing to the bond that is forbidden between them.
Magnetic and gorgeously thematic, New York Times bestselling author duo Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner have crafted a gripping tale of magic and logic, fate and choice, and an impossible decision between an empty future and a deadly love. Perfect for fans of Claudia Gray and Laini Taylor.
My Review:
This book was just a pleasure to read! I love Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner's ideas, and their writing, both of their previous series together were really excellent, and I was so excited to read this book. It didn't disappoint, I loved reading it!
We did get the dual perspectives of Nimh and North, both important people in their respective homelands-Nimh on the ground, and North in the flying islands. So of course they aren't together at the beginning of this book-they didn't even know about each other. Well, Nimh thought North's people were gods, the one she's the last off on the ground, while his people thought they were the only ones. Yeah.
I loved watching these two interact, they both have secrets, and those secrets are pretty important, given the roles that they play in their respective societies. And I wasn't sure what was going on with some of those secrets, if it was magic, or science that they didn't understand, or a bit of both. So that was a fun mystery!
But that ending, though! That was pretty unexpected, and I'm so excited to see where things go from there, because that was just a killer ending! And they're in some pretty interesting situations, and it'll be interesting to see how they get out of them! I can't wait!
Loved reading this book, it was so fantastic, and I can't wait for the sequel!
