Week 7 Review: Life is Short and Then You Die

From Goodreads:
Mystery Writers of America's first teen anthology, edited by #1 New York Times bestselling author Kelley Armstrong.

Adolescence is a time of "firsts." First kiss. First love. First loss. First job. The first taste of adult responsibilities, and the first look at an independent life away from both the restrictions and the security of home.

And in this case, a very different type of "first": murder.

This short story collection of murder mysteries adds a sinister spin to the joy and pain of firsts that have always been a major part of life, whether it be high school cliques who take the term "backstabbing" too seriously, stumbling upon a body on the way home from school, or receiving a Snapchat message that promises something deadly.

My Review:
I had such a great time reading this anthology! There's some authors here that I really enjoyed. And I think almost all of them were in fresh worlds for these authors, besides Barry Lyga's story, because it's set in the I Hunt Killers series, with Jasper living with his grandmother and thinking of ways to kill her.

This collection of being the first time these kids are dealing with murder, is such a fantastic idea! I honestly though a lot more of them would deal with investigators solving mysteries, but a lot of the time, they were causing these bodies instead, so that was fun to read!

I did have some obvious favourites, like Kelley Armstrong's, Barry Lyga's, Rachel Vincent's, I loved most of it, including that twist, but the ending hurt. A Different Hero's Day by Anthony Franze and Barry Lancet was really great, as well as Jonathan Maberry's story. Melissa Marr's story, yeah, I wasn't sure what was up with that one, but it was really great to read!

I was honestly a bit surprised by how many of these stories, that so many were of killers, and not investigators. I guess it makes sense but I did think that there'd be more than the 2 or 3. Plus the ones where a dead body was involved, but our narrator wasn't the guilty party. I was surprised but these were some really great stories!

Loved reading this collection of stories, and I'm really glad that it exists!
